Lyrically and instrumentally, Eric Colville’s Philadelphia is a tour de force that never asks anything more from its audience but a pair of speakers through which to shower us with straightforward songcraft.
All-around one of the most diversely-appointed indie singer/songwriter efforts I’ve reviewed in the past six months, Eric Colville’s Philadelphia is required listening if you’re a fan of the modern folk-rock revolution and everything it has the potential to unleash in society.
Colville is someone who compiles his emotions rather than trying to create some theatrical journey on which we can understand his life and perspective through poeticisms alone, which is enough to make him a primetime player in competition with any of the best mainstream singer/songwriters alive today in my book.
